Need even more continental philosophy in your life? The Society for Phenomenology and the Human Sciences is hosting a free and public online reading group of the phenomenological sociologist Alfred Schutz’s The Phenomenology of the Social World. Each monthly meeting (Sept.-Nov.) features a short mini-lecture by a prominent scholar of Schutz, followed by a seminar-style discussion of the chapters.
Schedule:
- September 18: Intro, Preface, Chapter 1 (Carlos Belvedere)
- October 16: Chapters 2-3 (Daniela López)
- November 13: Chapters 4-5 (Michael Barber)
In order to accommodate the different time zones of the presenters, all three meetings will be held at 6:00pm ET.
