Join us tonight for our continued discussion of philosophy and math, as we discuss an exerpt from Alain Badiou’s “Being and Event.”
As always, the text is available as a pdf HERE.
We will be meeting at 7:00pm at Tender Bar + Kitchen, in Lawrenceville (4300 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
As a reminder, even though we have moved to thematic groups, there is no expectation that people participate in every week, so even if you can’t commit to the whole summer, you are still more than welcome to join us when you can.

Hi Justin, I have been taking care of my mom and continue to do so. My dad is her primary caregiver and he had a hip replacement. He should be back to normal in a few weeks so then I’ll be back. Have fun.
Linda
Best of luck to your dad and your family. And as always, thank you for your rsvp’s!
Be a bit late- previous meeting. Seems to me that Badiou is trying to ground an Ontology rather that writing a book about mathematics.
Quite right! Though, for him, these two may not be so different. His equations of choice are “ontology is set theory” and “Being is the empty set.”
