Reading Group’s new time (8:00pm), starting tomorrow. Plus, Catherine Malabou!

31 Aug

NOTE #1: In order to accomodate new schedules for many of our student members, the reading group will be moving to 8:00pm starting tomorrow, rather than 7:00.

NOTE #2: Mark your calendar, for the second annual pittsburgh continental philosophy conference, September 25th and 26th. Plenaries include Leswin Laubscher, Fred Evans, and The Partially Examined Life.

Join us tomorrow night as we turn from biology to neuroscience and look at the third chapter of Catherine Malabou’s What Should We Do With Our Brain?

As always, the text is available as a pdf HERE.

We will be meeting at 8:00pm at Tender Bar + Kitchen, in Lawrenceville (4300 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201)

As a reminder, even though we have moved to thematic groups, there is no expectation that people participate in every week, so even if you can’t commit to the whole summer, you are still more than welcome to join us when you can.

Upcoming Readings:

Philosophy and Neuroscience:

  • 8/31: Malabou, What Should We Do With our Brain, Chapter 3
  • 9/7: Brassier, Nihil Unbound, Chapter 1
  • 9/14: Mark Solms, Brain and the Inner World, excerpt tbd

Looking ahead: keep your eyes open at the beginning October, for our fall reading group series on philosophy and horror. Texts will include: H.P. Lovecraft, Dylan Trigg, Eugene Thacker, Graham Harman, Georges Canguilhem, Richard Kearney and many more!

    Good day, Justin,
I am most grateful for the PCPRG, I have enjoyed it. I will probably not be able to join you again for meetings, but I wish you continued success with the group.
    Warm regards,
    Linda

We are sad to see you go, but wish you the best. You have been a wonderful contributor to the group, and are welcome back at any time!
